Cydome · Maritime Cybersecurity & Risk Management Platform
Cydome is a pioneer of purpose-built cyber protection and risk management for maritime and other remote critical infrastructure operations. As the satellite communication bandwidth expands 200x with the adoption of LEO connectivity, and hackers moving at machine speed with the latest AI tools, the cyber risk to remote facilities has risen more than 500% in recent years. In fact, Cydome's research team found that every three days there's a published cyber attack on maritime operations, and those attacks are twice more severe as well: ransomware attacks consist of 40% of all attacks, compared to around 20% in other industries,
Unfortunately, marine vessels, offshore facilities and other remote critical infrastructure struggle to keep up. They use a blend of legacy and modern technologies, IT and purpose-built OT with unique protocols such as NMEA and other proprietary non-TCP/IP protocols.
Regulators have also identified this risk to the global economy, as 90% of the world's goods travel by sea, about 30% of oil production originates offshore, and port congestion is a global bottleneck. We all saw how one stuck ship in the Suez Canal could have shaved almost 0.5% of the global GDP (!) according to Allianz. New regulations such as IMO 2021, IACS UR E26/E27, NIS2 and new U.S. Coast Guard requirements all mandate tight cybersecurity for maritime operations on shore and at sea, introducing personal liability of executives.
Standard cyber solutions fall short in protecting maritime operations, assets and offshore critical infrastructure facilities. They don't cover the specific maritime devices, networks and communications, are not built for the operational environment that relies on unstable satcom and where there's no IT or cyber experts on board even on a floating factory such as a commercial vessel with cargo worth hundreds of millions of dollars that spends 99.9% of its time at sea. Standard solutions are also not suitable for operations of maritime companies where in many cases the IT departments struggle with the complexity of multiple tools, dashboards and alerts. Protection is usually focused on specific devices and attack vectors, and thus are difficult to monitor at a vessel level and fleet (or multi-fleet) level.
Another unique challenge is operational; most cybersecurity solutions require a physical installation of a server or appliance on board, while vessels have very short port calls and offshore facilities such as wind farms can be difficult to reach - with costs of up to $200,000 per day to rent a boat and a technician for installation in an offshore wind farm. Also, in some cases, there is limited physical room and installing a new server or appliance could be challenging.
This keeps maritime companies in operational and regulatory risk.
Cydome provides a maritime-certified, one-stop shop cybersecurity solution for monitoring, protection and risk management of maritime vessels, fleets and facilities, with a unified risk management dashboard and multiple protection layers, including AI anomaly detection that combines inputs from all layers.
Its class and ISO-certified products secure and simplify cyber protection with a single solution covering the entire maritime or offshore facilities in one place. With Cydome, maritime companies improve their cybersecurity posture with holistic protection for IT, OT assets and all internal and external communications in real-time, benefit from proactive, automated vulnerability scanning, simplify their cyber risk management with centralized fleet-wide control, and accelerate their maritime cyber compliance processes – all without the hassle of complex implementations and with "zero-touch" operation on board. Cydome's unique, proprietary technology uses AI algorithms specifically trained for maritime use cases, and follows standard cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST to proactively identify, protect, detect, and respond to known and unknown cyber threats – regardless of device type and make, communications service providers or vessel type.
A unique value proposition of Cydome was recently announced, solving a unique problem of hard-to-reach operations such as wind farms, where it's costly - and dangerous - to send technicians for installations, and physical space is very limited for additional appliances or servers. Cydome cyber security solution can be deployed directly as a virtual machine, Docker, directly on communication devices or routers in frequent use in such facilities, such as Peplink and Speedcast, making the entire installation completely remote and with zero physical footprint. This milestone was achieved by sophisticated optimization of the Cydome software to run on such devices that have very low compute resources, and still provide excellent protection and compliance.
Full coverage for maritime OT devices, including maritime-specific protocols such as NMEA 0183/2000, Modbus and other, proprietary OEM protocols, in real-time, and also identifies any isolation breach in the IT/OT network segmentation
Unified Fleet-wide SIEM & Risk Management: Cydome provides a centralized unified dashboard for the entire organization. It maintains a consistent SIEM for unified management of multiple vessels, offshore sites, and shore-based offices, allowing operators to monitor their entire risk posture and manage incidents across the fleet from a single dashboard.
Contextual AI Threat Detection (IT/OT Fusion): Unlike generic tools, Cydome correlates data from all its protection layers, both IT and OT. Our engine understands the "operational context" of a ship, identifying anomalies in engine, ballast, or cargo systems that standard security tools miss.
Hardware-Free "Embedded" Deployment: Cydome can be deployed as a virtual container on existing onboard routers or satellite communication hardware. This eliminates the need for expensive hardware shipments or technician travel, allowing a small IT team to secure an entire global fleet remotely and instantly.
Advanced Navigation & GNSS Protection: We provide the industry's first software-based GPS/GNSS spoofing and jamming detection. This critical safety feature identifies navigational deception in real-time, providing bridge crews with essential alerts to prevent groundings or unauthorized route deviations without requiring additional bridge equipment.
Automated Compliance Assistance: Cydome digitizes the regulatory burden for IT managers. The platform automatically generates one-click audit reports and risk scores mapped directly to IACS UR E26/E27, IMO 2021, and NIS2 standards, ensuring vessels remain "audit-ready" without manual paperwork.
Vulnerability Management & Micro-Segmentation: Designed for low-bandwidth satellite links, our automated scanning identifies vulnerabilities in legacy bridge systems and enables micro-segmentation to prevent lateral movement, ensuring a compromised crew laptop cannot reach the vessel's propulsion systems.
Managed 24/7 Maritime SOC: A specialized Security Operations Center staffed by experts who understand the intersection of cyber threats and maritime operations. This service provides continuous monitoring and forensic support specifically tuned for remote, low-bandwidth maritime environments.
We bridge the cybersecurity gap of the maritime industry, providing protection for the unique maritime assets, specifically built for maritime operational environment.
Operational Simplicity for Lean Teams: Most vendors treat vessels and shore sites as separate entities, creating fragmented workflows. Cydome differentiates itself through Centralized Risk Management, treating the entire fleet and shore infrastructure as one unified ecosystem. By consolidating management into a single SIEM, we significantly simplify cybersecurity operations, allowing small IT teams to manage complex, global infrastructure without increasing headcount or "screen fatigue."
Solving the "Remote Deployment Paradox": While competitors rely on "technicians in suitcases" to secure remote assets, Cydome has democratized maritime security. Our "Embedded" technology removes the hardware tax, allowing a fleet manager to secure 50 vessels from their desk in a single afternoon—making elite security accessible regardless of a vessel's location or schedule.
Research-Led Industry Advocacy: We act as an industry guardian rather than just a software provider. From the discovery of the "Broadside" botnet to identifying critical maritime OT gateway vulnerabilities (published CVEs), Cydome's research team actively contributes to the global maritime community. This commitment is further evidenced by iReport, our free public tool that automates mandatory incident reporting to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Validated Regulatory Leadership: Cydome is a pioneer in the regulatory space, holding dual ClassNK and RINA certifications. We don't just help companies meet standards; we define the "easy button" for compliance, ensuring our customers are perpetually audit-ready in an increasingly complex and frightening regulatory regime.
